Save the Arctic was a Greenpeace digital campaign developed through EDCH in 2013. The project transformed a collective action into an online experience: creating a virtual chain of people expressing their support for the protection of the Arctic.
The experience combined campaign content with a participation journey. Users could submit and adjust a photograph, provide their details and write a message explaining why they wanted to protect the Arctic. The interface also allowed them to use their Facebook profile photograph.
The chain included an interactive visualisation where participants could see their position and view information about other members. The website also provided options for sharing the campaign on Facebook and Twitter, connecting individual participation with its dissemination across social networks.
The development covered the public interface, its interactions and the server-side system responsible for managing submissions. It also included administration tools for reviewing and approving comments. The graphic design was supplied by EDCH, while the development and programming were completed in full.
The project combined campaign communication, user participation, image processing, interactive visualisation and content administration within a single web solution.
