Winco Pro: laparoscopic training

Development in 2025 of Winco Pro, a training system designed to develop and assess laparoscopic skills.

The simulator supported both customised exercises and standardised training programmes. Before each practice session, users could review its objective, required materials, available time and the actions that would incur penalties.

During the exercise, the system displayed a live image of the laparoscopic instruments and recorded the activity performed. It used these data to calculate metrics such as elapsed time, distance travelled, speed, movements outside the field of view and the resulting score.

Results could be compared with optimum values and the student's personal average. The simulator also included histories, statistics and progress charts, alongside tools for managing students, teachers, groups, courses and exercises.

Our work focused exclusively on developing the software that managed the training, recorded activity and processed the results. The physical unit and instruments on which the application ran were developed and supplied by Medical Simulator.

The project was completed directly for Medical Simulator, covering the full development and programming of the software, with the visual design supplied by the client.
